About Us
Described by patrons as affordable, delicious and casual, Towne Grill provides an authentic diner experience. Even though the parking lot is small and seating is limited (now seats approximately 50 with the 2017 expansion), you won’t wait long to be seated and served with the warmth of family.
History
Towne Grill has been open in Jefferson City since the 1940s. The original location was on Madison Street and only offered 14 seats at the counter. The restaurant has been in its current location at 315 Jefferson Street since the 1980s. It was originally the city’s bus depot and is now a designated landmark of Jefferson City.
Don’t let the grammar error on the sign, “Food at it’s best,” deter you from enjoying a classic diner experience; we are well aware of the error and do not intend to change it since it is original to the restaurant. Rumor has it an English teacher lived across the street from the Madison St. location, and she frequently complained to the original owner about the error, which prompted him to keep it. It is, “Jefferson City’s most famous grammar error.”
